Pete Draws For Buttons

I uploaded the sketch above, from my Summer 2007 journal, into my Flickr account a few weeks ago and had this comment left by Pete Scully:

' grrr...i was just thinking about cadbury's buttons yesterday and bemoaning the fact i can't get them here...now i really really want some! Tasty looking drawing.'

Being an admirer of Pete's wonderful sketches and wicked sense of humour I decided to mail him and asked if he'd like to swap - A sketch for a parcel of chocolate buttons?

He agreed!

I received this fantastic postcard a while later:

Too funny...I love it!
Pete has since received his Cadburys parcel.

Thanks Pete...Enjoy!

Giving and Receiving

My new purse...All the way from Bangkok!
In shades of cream and brown leather and embellished with gems and studs...I love it!

Thank you to all those who emailed me interested in taking part in Pay It Forward.

I am happy to announce that the first 3 emails I received, therefore my 3 recipients, are:

Leslie Brasher

Jeanne Grant

Margaret Storer-Roche

Please remember to post about PIF on your own blog and select 3 recipients of your own.

My apologies to those who emailed and missed out, perhaps you could stalk the 3 blogs above and try your luck on their PIF post?

Sherry at Late B(l)oomer kindly gifted me this award and in return I am supposed to list 5 blogs I love to visit. However, I have used a litle artistic licence and decided to list just 3 blogs that are NEW to me that I love to visit:

Starrgirl's World - A blog I only came across quite recently. I love Starr's journal pages, they bulge with a loose and interesting mixture of text and sketches.

Joan Sandford-Cook - A relatively new blog that I myself set up for Joan. I love to visit Joan's blog and see her wonderful work but mostly I like to visit and read about her days because it makes me feel a little closer to her. Joan moved to Coltishall late last year and, although I try to visit when I can, the distance for two such good friends can prove difficult to adjust to.

Water Blossoms - A brand new blog created by Margaret Storer-Roche is fast becoming a favourite place to visit for me. Her enthusiasm for life and art is contagious and very uplifting.

The participation rules are simple:
1. If you get tagged (and want to play along), write a post with links to blogs that you love2.
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme, created by Emila.

Lastly, I just had to share this postcard with that arrived yesterday all the way from India. Our life model from my sessions in Whittlesey last year mentioned that she would be spending the beginning of this year travelling through India before moving onto Africa. So, being he cheeky monkey I am, I quickly jotted down my land address and asked if she would send me a postcard...and she did!

In times of super size, tower blocks and huge price tags...It's still the little things that make us smile!

Valentine Surprises

What could be more romantic than a single red rose?

...and this morning I received the most wonderful surprise in the post, a valentines postcard.

Margaret is one of the participants in my postcard pen pal project and enjoyed taking part so much that she sent me an extra card to say thank you for organising it. Such a thoughtful act, thank YOU Margaret, it's a beautiful addition to my growing collection.

Locations and Postcards

Today's journal entry was sketched on location at the Tesco Cafe in March, Cambridgeshire.
I have been busy creating postcards for my Postcard Pen Pal project where 3 successful exchanges have already taken place to date:

I've also managed to get a couple of location sketches in my large moleskin sketchbook while parked:

Location Sketchbook 2007

For now, sketching from the drivers seat is as brave as I get but as the weather improves I'll be heading out, once again, on location.
I now have to decide whether to continue with two separate blogs or add all my 2008 location sketches here on the one blog.
Any thoughts on this?
