Hahnemuhle Travel Booklets

From this plain little brown booklet

To this....

Don't they look great!
I purchase a block of cover papers today and decided to spruce up some Hahnemuhle Travel Booklets, I love how they've come out. These little journals are what I gave my students to work with and I can't wait to show them how they look with a makeover next week.
The first two in the top picture are gifts; one for a friend's birthday and one for Brian Nelson. (His is the lined one) A while back I posted my very first dip pen sketches and commented that I found the nibs a little scratchy. Brian commented that he'd bought a package of nibs and offered to send me some as a gift...Just like that!
I think acts of kindness such as this are such a wonderful surprise. Sure to his word, the nibs arrived and are beautiful.
THANK YOU BRIAN!....doesn't sound like much over the internet, even if you shout it in capital letters, so I sketched it inside the first page of the booklet I will be sending as a thank you gift to Brian.
Hope you like it!

Easter HUNT

Hope you all had a relaxing, long, Easter weekend filled with love and plenty of chocolate!

This sketch was created using my new Hunt Crow Quill holder with a size 107 nib, 'Nut Brown' ink by W&N and a little dry watercolour pencil.
The Hunt 107 is a very fine nib that seems to hold alot of ink and spreads across the page like butter over hot toast.
I purchased the holder and nib from Scribblers.

Just Ink

I've spent the weekend doodling in ink, all sorts of ink; red, green, blue, Noodler's in red/black and W&N in 'Nut Brown' shade.

I've used pigment liners, Lamy fountain pens and dip pens...and all from the comfort of my sofa!

Dippy Doodles and Sketchbooks

My dip pen arrived today and I finally managed to plonk it into a bottle Violet W&N ink at around 11pm.

The nibs that came with it are all calligraphy round hand with squared tips, I had hoped there would be at least one with a nice point...Still, something new to play with and a nice big violet blob on my middle finger to mark the occasion.

I'm sure I can add nibs as I go...I'm gathering most nibs will fit most dip pens right?

Some of you have been asking where I get my watercolour sketchbooks from, so here are the all essential links:

Canson - Bright red with black corners

Saunders Waterford - Scroll down when you reach the website, mine is the one with the green spine.

Both are wonderful to use!

The Saunders Waterford has slightly thicker paper that is 'creamy white' whereas the Canson is a brighter white. The Canson has more pages and is ever so slightly larger than the SW.
