Pretty In Pink

My Aunt Sallyanne loves when I sketch anything of hers and then post it here she says it makes her feel famous, LOL! Hence, this visit I was bullied into sketching one of her fancy pink boots.
This should make her happy.

I carried the colour through the page for balance and then realised I had surrounded Harry in pink!
I guess you can't please all the people all of the time eh!

Free Range

Wednesday saw the third egg in succession laid by our very own ducks Joey and Chandler and Harry and I shared them for breakfast...Delicious! We are finding just one egg a day which makes me suspect we either have a male and a female or one of the birds is being lazy!

The rain is making it very difficult to plan days out with Harry, so today I popped to the supermarket and purchased a comedy film, which Jake watched with us in the afternoon.

The Cottage At Wells - Day 4

My Aunts left us early Monday morning and soon after Mum and I took Harry along the quay crabbing again. He caught 71 crabs!!!...He was thrilled, as you can imagine.

Later that afternoon my Mum took a nap while I took Harry for a stroll to the local church just 5 mins away. It was open, a rarity with churches these days, so we took a seat and spent a few minutes with our sketchbooks.

We had a great time at the cottage and were sad to leave but have already re-booked for July.

The Cottage At Wells - Day 2

Another glorious day, although the breeze on the quay called for extra layers of clothing. Harry caught 25 crabs on his line and my Aunt Sally was brave enough to help him. We could tell when he'd caught a crab because my Aunt darted off in the opposite direction!

Fly Casting

Harry practising his cast in the yard, he looked so natural. Khan, our Border Terrier, was so excited she wouldn't stand still for a second!

Prepared Surface Sketching

Harry and our whippet 'Scoby' - Lamy Safari filled with Noodlers 'Walnut' ink using a medium nib on watercolour and soft pastel.

A few family sketches on prepared surfaces in my large Canson watercolour sketchbook.

I'd forgotten just how much prepared backgrounds add to a sketch and since I have had mixed media out on my desk recently for the 'Mixed Views' project I thought I'd dabble on a page....which soon turned into a few pages.
They look so much more interesting than just ink sketches and give instant 'meat' to a few minutes work.
