WWM - Day 9

Day 9 - Lyndsay Lawson
The right side of the reference Lyndsay shared with me was cut off so I improvised and added some flower power!

Sketched using Stabilo point 88 pens. My Stabilo collection is quite limited in colour so the sketch appears much funkier than the real thing!

Love this soft leather handbag, it goes with anything!
I am really enjoying using my Stabilo pens, although my scanner isn't keen on them and struggles to pick some of the lighter areas up, especially along the centre of the spread.

Class Studies

Rescued Angel

I rescued this angel from my parents when Mum decided to have a clear out a couple of years back.
This cheap, plastic, lattice style, tree topper crowned the tree every Christmas when I was a child and now rules over the tiny tree in my studio. She's been around for two generations and I'm hoping my boys will carry her on through a few more after me.

I sketched her today hoping she would repay me for rescuing her by ridding me of the terrible headaches I've been experiencing the past few days (probably caused by excitement, I'm worse than the kids at Christmas), hence the fairly basic sketch in ink.
I've made my wish and popped her back on the tree, now I'm off for an early night to give her a helping hand. I'm doing my HUGE Christmas grocery shop tomorrow in Asda and the lights in there often give me migraine, so I need all the help I can get.....and my sunglasses.
Wish me luck!

Taking A Load Off

Spent the day doing some extreme housework and the evening with my feet up in my cosy new slippers made of suede, wool and fake fur lining...So snug!

Back In The Flow

A little sketching, a bit of doodling and a splash of colour...I really enjoyed making this spread throughout my day on Friday.

Lifestyle Changes

Two new changes in my lifestyle have occurred recently, one is a major addiction to the new Activia pots...you know those yoghurt things that have 'friendly bacteria' in them...well I wasn't keen on the yoghurts but the new pots are like a creamy fromage frais and are so delicious I think I may be forming an addiction.
Best of all they are supposed to be good for you...Bonus!

Secondly, I have been giving the lack of exercise in my daily life some thought. Most of the classes seem so boring to me, I don't really wish to jump around and run on the spot for an hour wishing that someone would appear with an oxygen tank, coffee or cigarette with which to revive me. So, me and some female family members decided that we'd attend a class that would provide some fun and on Monday we took a pole dancing class. (Yes, you read that correctly)
What a night! If laughter truly is the best medicine then consider me dosed up to the eyeballs! It was hilarious!
What I didn't expect was it to be really good exercise too.
OH MY GOD did I ache!!!
Actually...I still ache.
EVERYWHERE!
I can't wait for next week's class.

Rusty

My time at the supermarket cafe opening made me realise just how rusty I'd got sketching figures. With all the other projects I've had going on recently there hasn't been much time for sketching and my journal pages have consisted of very fast studies. So, on Tuesday I took a little time out to concentrate on faces. Each study was still created within a very short time limit because I want to be able to get good at being fast, location sketching allows little time for figure sketching, people move and leave without permission or notice, so speed is important.
My first study of Harry went horribly wrong and the further two are laughable but I finally managed to capture something I was happy with in my fourth study.
Persistence....persistence....

I spent some time in the evening sketching myself using a mirror because I was the only one around and I'm free!
Each study took around 15 minutes, created directly in ink.

Shopping With My Journal

Grocery shopping on a Saturday!...What sort of a fool would do that when they have all week to shop?

Me!

So to take a little tension off and make my trip a little more bearable, I took my journal along and leaned on my trolley from time to time to sketch customers and write down some of the things I heard.

It worked!

I actually enjoyed my shopping trip and, after packing my purchases away, I filled the rest of the spread with some dead poppy heads and my Harry watching one of our favourite films.

Lady Got The Blues

Played around with my Stabilo point 88 pens and a water brush to make this sketch using 'The Nude Figure' by Mark Edward Smith as a reference.

I am going to be playing catch up over the next couple of days, posting an abundance of doodles, works and sketches, so be sure to pop in regularly.

My Weekly Newspaper Column

Has come to a halt!

The recent recession has resulted in a drop in advertising, which has resulted in a cut in pagination.

It has been such an amazing opportunity!

Local response has been more rewarding than I could ever have imagined and although I am obviously sad to see it go, I am so thrilled to have had the platform.

My artistic adventure continues to surprise and thrill me, ever changing, ever learning and offering the most amazing experiences.

Thank you to the Editor, John Elworthy, for choosing to shine his spotlight my way.
