Thackers Farm

On Sunday, while my roast finished crisping in the oven, I set my mobile alarm for twenty minutes and headed off down the drove to the adjacent farm for a quick sketch on a spread I had prepared with watercolour earlier that morning.
I slipped a blob of white gouache in my watercolour palette and added it to my mixes for some opaque coverage in areas.
Just as my alarm sounded, the heavens opened and I was so pleased I had taken the car!

The Ladder House, Ely, Cambridgeshire UK

On Saturday I took a drive into Ely for a cream tea, in my favourite tea shop, and a sketch. After my delicious lunch I sketched the "Ladder House" from the car, so called because it was use to house the ladders for the nearby brewery.

Taking A Bath

22-02-11a
Originally uploaded by Anita Davies

Sketched while taking a bath, sitting rather uncomfortably at the tap end balancing my sketchbook on damp knees.
On the right, the greens in my current palette and a little test to see if I could possibly replace olive with an undersea and winsor yellow mix.

I've had an awful cold and Sunday was probably my worse day, I felt terrible! After our visitors left I wanted to sketch (I don't like leaving my sketching for a day) so I did a quick outline of some flowers my guests had gifted me and then turned to my imagination for the interior sketch, which was fun!

The Old Bridge, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

I've passed the Old Bridge in Huntingdon a thousand times and always wanted to go in, so Saturday I drove out for a visit. Fantastic place for sketching and although my stay was pretty short this time I do plan to return with my sketchbook real soon and try out their cream teas.
The staff were very friendly and attentive and the views from the outside terrace look onto the river, so will be a great Summer spot!
