Rusty

My time at the supermarket cafe opening made me realise just how rusty I'd got sketching figures. With all the other projects I've had going on recently there hasn't been much time for sketching and my journal pages have consisted of very fast studies. So, on Tuesday I took a little time out to concentrate on faces. Each study was still created within a very short time limit because I want to be able to get good at being fast, location sketching allows little time for figure sketching, people move and leave without permission or notice, so speed is important.
My first study of Harry went horribly wrong and the further two are laughable but I finally managed to capture something I was happy with in my fourth study.
Persistence....persistence....

I spent some time in the evening sketching myself using a mirror because I was the only one around and I'm free!
Each study took around 15 minutes, created directly in ink.

Good sketching!!! It is hard to get involved in so many things and run out of time to "practice."

These are wonderful to see Anita. I always look incredibly serious in my self portraits too. I bet Harry got a kick out of "Harry, aged 65"
You're one busy lady -- glad you found time to sketch portraits again. I enjoy following ALL your projects!
