Making Do

There are poppies blooming all over the garden and they look gorgeous. I've been tempted to paint them but every moment I have it seems to be raining, so I compromised and grabbed the silk stem I have instead.

I have sketched this stem of poppies before HERE in coloured pencil. Strangely I used a similar format back then too!
I sketched them in my new indoor studio space.

It's all been painted now and the floor is finished, I'm just waiting for my Ikea furniture to arrive and I'll be all set. I'm looking forward to not having to make the choice of leaving the family to go outside to work, my outdoor studio is just a few footsteps from the house but seems so far from those I love I invariably choose to stay in with them and end up sketching from the sofa. I'll be able to get so much more done once it's all rigged out but for now I am 'making do' with a 6ft table and stacks of my stuff planted all over my new floor.

It has the most incredible view over the Fen and a huge window that frames the dynamic sun sets perfectly.

The view is stunning isn't it Sherry and it's agricultural so it changes with the seasons; potatoes, rapeseed, linseed, wheat... and is often filled with tractors. I'm very excited about it and cannot wait for my new furniture to arrive so I can get organised.

You can see pics of my other studio space here:

When I ordered they estimated delivery on the 18th...once I'd paid they confirmed the 4th July.
Very sneaky!
I am not patient...It is killing me!
LOL!

Oh Anita it's fabulous. Was it an added on room, or a re-fit of an existing room. Funny you've moved indoors and I'm thinking of a shed/studio in the back yard... perhaps I should re-think that and convert the den. I too can't wait to see the furniture you've ordered... what a bother that they are dragging their feet on delivery.

What a lovely studio space! I miss the English countryside so much... they don't have the patchwork quilt over here, and I never see the different colours we have back home (blue, yellow, green, brown...)

The poppies are very pretty! I ended up drawing my ones from a photo because 90 plus degrees (32 plus degrees C) was too hot for me!

I love composition and beautiful loose colour and line of those poppies, Anita.

Trying not to be envious of you for having TWO beautiful studios. Since you never seem to stop drawing and painting, you are about the only person I can think of who justifies two studios. Can't wait to see it finished.

If you change your mind about it being your studio I am wanting to move back to Cambridgeshire and it would suit me down to the ground ROFL.

It looks lovely and it makes such a differenc having lots of space to work, I hope you are tidier than me as I seem to spread all over the house with my different types of stash with my embroidery and my painting things.

I love your poppies you have captured the delicate silk like petals perfectly

Anita would probably make good use of 4 studios! Love the Poppy. I was not able to join EDay in May. My thought was to draw the flowers in my garden. I'm trying to draw or paint everyday in June and still have the lovely flowers and have not done one! My poppy's are spectactular this year and deserve painting, now I'm encouraged to paint some. Nice work, beautiful studio!

Wonderful studio space! I love the illustration of poppies, one of my most favorite flowers and I also enjoy baked peppers, that gives me a great idea on what to cook tonight! Thank you for stopping by and for your concern, we were hit with another round of bad storms and a tornado that killed 4 boys. It's been a sad start to summer.
