Sunday Squares

Today's entries in my Seawhite square sketchbook.

I spend alot of time in the kitchen on a Sunday so I made it my topic for the first of today's pages which also lead into the bathroom for the 'bath and hair wash before school' ritual.
I also decided to look Sunday up on the internet and what was the first thing I found?
...'Sunday, "Day of the sun", as the name of the first day of the week is derived from Egyptian astrology.
Amazing after yesterday's sketches lead me to Egypt too!

This evening I broke the Egyptian path by concentrating on a fabric pattern...

...closely followed by a couple of figure sketches, loosely based on images I found in a fashion catalogue.

No time to colour this one, the film I was watching 'Meet Joe Black' with the marvellous Anthony Hopkins has just finished and with the clock showing 3am, I think it's high time I hit the sack!

These are wonderful pages, Anita - I especially like the composition on the second one. You are so prolific, and the quality of your work is always so high.

Great sketches. Do you stay up late often? I find I am more creative between 11 and 1 in the morning, even tho I know that the body detoxes from 1-3am. Sometimes I just can't resist staying up and working because I can really focus and I am very productive.

I do stay up late....always! I love the peace of a night and feel most inspired by it. I usually get to bed around 3am evey night and cope on just 4 hours sleep. I have my best ideas during these hours and I believe I am more open to creativity because the usual chores of the day no longer stand in my way mentally, allowing me to close the controlling side of my brain and just ride on emotion.
