Bangers On The Beach
Crimson streaks spotlight the horizon, dancing seductively on the crest of every ripple. The smell of charcoal and sausages entwine with the salt air to produce scented clouds that intermittently mask the smiles of those I love who sit upon the cool sands with me.
I am fortunate to live within an hour drive of our local beach "Hunstanton" and on Friday evening, at around 6pm, my family and I decided to make our way there just as other visitors would be making their way back home.
Armed with French sticks, chilled juice, sausages and a couple of throw away BBQ's we set off!
I love the tranquillity of an abandoned beach, to feel the golden sand pressing against my feet and to see over the horizon and into forever. We watched as the bright yellow light flickered through the water, we chatted as the coastline halved in size, we ate as the pink fireball faded deep into the sea and we huddled together as day turned to night at Old Hunstanton beach.
No restaurant could have accommodated us more adequately than the beach, no chef could have cooked the sausages like my Son and there isn't a table I've sat upon that could have offered a view to compete with the natural light show that welcomed us.
How wonderful it was to break from routine, from the silent air that the Friday night television schedule gifts to all who view her.
It was under a silver light that we reluctantly made our way back to the truck and as we left the lighthouse in the rear view mirror I knew this would be a memory I would hold deep in my heart for years to come.
Never again clutter your days or nights with so many menial and unimportant things that you have no time to accept a real challenge when it comes along. This applies to play as well as work. A day merely survived is no cause for celebration. You are not here to fritter away your precious hours when you have the ability to accomplish so much by making a slight change in your routine. No more busy work. No more hiding from success. Leave time, leave space, to grow. Now. Now! Not tomorrow! - Og Mandino

Ah, "Sunny Hunny", I've visited this quaint little place (especially Old Hunstanton beach) many, many times myself. After reading this entry to your blog, memories came flooding back; memories that were very dusty suddenly became crystal clear again.
Your blog is yet another wonderful addition to your creative talents and I'll be a regular visitor here!
