SP - 10 mins - Lead - Lge Canson sketchbookI made this self portrait sketch from life in 10 mins, then left it to go about my day. When I opened it later that evening I decided to have some fun with my watercolours and a large brush, working wet into wet, I allocated myself another 10 mins and spent a further 5 minutes 'enhancing' it with a pigment liner once it was dry.

Heaven, its only just gone one o'clock and you've achieved all this. You put me to shame - mind you I spent most of the morning going through wardrobes and drawers to find 'older' clothes to put into a charity bag left by the front door the other day. I liked the original 10 min sketch just as much as the final coloured piece.
I like all the colors in your intense look--that's what happens when you study yourself in the mirror for a portrait..do you have a 'fun' one done?
Oh no Joannie, I did this on Tuesday. I've created so many sketches recently I have a backlog! LOL!
I was quite pleased with the quick 10 min led one, it lacks that scowling look I usually manage to capture in myself.
Have a good day babe! x
Winna, thanks!
This one is a little softer:

I have been looking at a lot of wet on wet and have decided that I really like the effects you get. What is a pigment liner?
'morning Anita,
Looking GOOD. I really admire the way you've made your hair look so soft and natural in your guache rendition.
I like seeing the transformation from one to the other!
Amazing results for such a short painting session! It's funny, I always think your self-portraits show you in a very harsh light, yet there is always definitely something of Anita that I recognise. Love all the colours you put into this one. God knows what a self-portrait of me would come out looking like - I haven't attempted one for years!
You make it look really easy. I love your use of colour and line. I keep passing by your blog but not commenting enough.
I love them both! I wish I lived near you so I could take on of your classes!
This watercolor is incredible. I know how hard it is to do a watercolor portrait with all the shading and values. Great Job!!
Brave woman: a self portrait AND watercolor enhancement. Don't know if you think you caught a likeness, but this certainly conveys personality. Happy painting.
I like them both, too! Great job. I like how you blended in the watercolor (or highlighted!). :) Kelly EDM
the watercolour and ink looks fanatastic!
Love this watercolor. Using a large brush must be a challenge. I like the colors you used here.
