Stars And Pumpkins

On Friday we took Harry to the cinema for the new Bond film opening 'Quantum of Solace' and arrived early to grab a decent seat, giving me the perfect opportunity for some figure sketching. I sketched and painted the first star right there in the cinema seat under very dull lighting while the adverts played.
On returning home, Jake and Harry carved their pumpkin out together as they do every year and sat it beside the fireplace right opposite where I was sitting, giving me ideal subject to fill my second star.
The star template is a cardboard piece of packaging I salvaged from a recent purchase.

A "starpost" for sure LOL :)...love the use of the template...a fresh touch to a grid!

Quantum doesn't open in the states until the 14th!!! So sad am I.

Really nice idea using the star. Did you use pan watercolors or pencils in the theater? I can't imaging you had much room to move yet you did a great job. Me, I would have been filling up on a large tub of popcorn!

Fun creative sketch Anita! I had to smile at the image of you painting and sketching in the cinema....a good way to pass the time during those tedious adverts.
Gorgeous pumpkin.

Thanks Margaret. I can't believe you don't get Bond until the 14th...Mind you, it's worth waiting for :)

Thanks Freebird. Luckily I am quite small and my handbag fits alongside me on my chair, so I faced it zip side to me and dived in for my materials when I needed them. I've developed a knack for holding my Schminke set and my bit of old rag in my left hand while I paint with my waterbrush. Oh, and....have no fear, I managed the large bag of popcorn too! ;) LOL!

MD, great to see you around again! It was a great way to pass the time for sure...the dim lighting was the main challenge.
Off to see if you've been posting again ;)

A large bag of popcorn too???!!! Do you have an extra arm that you're not telling us about? lol It sounds like you adapt to any situation for the sake of art, Anita....great dedication.

I love your 'star' sketches! I have some wooden cut-out Christmas ornaments in the same shape so I might keep one handy for this sort of thing.
