Sunday was rather hectic, as always, made more so by the fact that I was trying to get everything finished by early evening so I could plonk myself in front of the TV and indulge in a whole night of Rolf Harris on BBC4.
It all started at 7pm with one of his 'Star Portraits' programmes, followed by 30 minutes of 'Rolf on Art' where he spotlighted Lowry and attempted to paint 'Going to the Match' using Lowry's techniques and palette.
The next hour was a programme entitled 'My Family at War' and since it wasn't really art related and started at 8pm, I generously handed over the TV remote so the boys could watch 'Top Gear'.
At 9pm 'The Queen' began, a whole hour of Rolf's experience including his live sessions with Her Majesty and all of the nerves, apprehensions and sleep depravation he suffered throughout this amazing honour. It was wonderful to see such emotions from someone so accomplished and experienced, this is what I love most about Rolf...he's very grounded.
The evening drew to a close with an interview by Mark Lawson and an episode of 'The Rolf Harris Show'.
What a night!

This is lovely. I don't think I have seen many pictures of the Queen prior to her pre-teen years. Enjoyed reading about your evening.
We don't get the same programs here in Texas. I wish there would be more art programs. There are painting programs that come on here on PBS, at 4 a.m. I just can't stay awake to watch, or get up that early, either. Our new cable boxes allow us to record, so I'm going to try that.
It is great that you posted a give away on the eve or our Thankgving feast. I always give thanks to you and your work because you are such an inspiration to me artistically.
As always a nice piece of art. I also like your new layout on your blog. Great projects on the way.
It sounds like some TV I would enjoy over here. I have always loved photos or books on the Queen---
this looks like her, but I don't know if you used your imagination or old
photo. Lovely for sure!
What a lovely thing to do, Anita!
Leaving comments for everything you do is my pleasure!

I would love to have one of your pieces of artwork! Thanks for all your inspiring words and creations!
This is such a delighful image of our Queen and I think that you have captured her beauty and innocence wonderfully.
I did the same! Settled down to a wonderful evening of Rolf. I'm not sure which bit I liked best! Well it had to be the bit with the Queen where he nervously chattered away while HM looked on in startled bemusment. I loved the honesty of his work, turning it upside down to paint the hand, recolouring the dress etc. Hes a wonderful artist. I have also got to say the Lowry painting, being from Manchester. Although I love the work of his teacher, Adolph Valette. And the Rolf Harris Show, cheesy dancing and his sincerity introducing some awful guests!!! I remember watching it in glorious monochrome ( repeats obviously) Ok all of it - good stuff and there should be more of it on BBC4! :-)
Well the evening TV programmes sounds wonderful, nothing like this on TV here. Not enough culture over here just stupic reality shows LOL..
You are so ingenious how you incorperated the paper the relly cute characters and the writing what a wonderful sketch page..
The Queen was so cute lovely drawing of her...
I love it, and I'd love to have it. Thanks for the opportunity!
It's nice to see the queen in a more casual way. Nice to see her as a child.
What a great idea! Wish i'd seen the programme too.
And how lovely to give a piece away (maybe her Maj would like a copy?!!)
You make me so envious of BBC TV! We just don't have anything quite like the programs available to you.
LOVE the tiny portrait! You constantly amaze me with your range of talents!
What a darling little painting! And the expression you've captured is quite intriguing — she looks both very young and very wise.
rats! RATS! RATS! I always seem to miss out on the giveaways! lol This month has been so busy for me that I haven't gotten over to your blog as much as I would have liked but I do congratulate Kathryn on being the lucky winner of your art card, Anita. It's gorgeous!
I love Rolf Harris....I remember watching his show when I was a child and would be mesmerised when he was putting a large scale painting together. You never knew what it was going to be until the final strokes were placed. A wonderfully entertaining man!
