Heavy Metal

I managed to whip my journal out again between moves during our Monday night pole dancing class.
Tuesday night was spent in front of the TV AGAIN, watching 'Imagine'. This week's focus was on sculpture by Richard Serra who uses sheet metal by the ton to create huge installations.

Hello Anita, thank you so much for your lovely comment. I am so thrilled to discover another blogger/artist so close. I have lived here ( Bury)for 6 years and thought it was an artist wasteland! Your blog is utterly delightful, a joyous journey, not least because you visit places I know. Your 'Bangers on the Beach' post stopped me in my tracks. You are so right and I waste so much time, I have vowed that today is the beginning of new determination to not waste a further second!
Do you belong to an art club or society in the area. I need to find like minded people, I have been isolated for too long!
Happy painting, you are brilliant, thanks for sharing.

Hi Sharon!
How wonderful that you live so nearby. I spend a little time at Clarice House in Bury now and then, it would be great to meet up next time I'm there and perhaps have a sketch date together?....With a little lunch thrown in ...of course! LOL!

Thank you for the reminder about Richard Serra on Imagine. I was watching it but nodded off - I was nursing a cold at the time. I've just caught up on iPlayer.

Amongst all that monumental work I was most struck by the little sketch of Zoe in Provence and the flood of complex emotions it unleashed on both sides - even simple sketches can convey powerful messages.

Hi Anita,
I moved up here from Hertfordshire, too and I keep up my membership of Hertford Art Society because they organise a monthly, all day, life drawing session, usually the last Saturday of the month. For non-members the fee is 13 pounds for the day, 10 - 4, bring your own lunch, and we usually have two models. The next one is tomorrow, which is a bit short notice, (although I could make enquiries,)but you are certainly welcome to come with me in January.
I did go to a life drawing class in P'boro, but it was only two hours in the evening, which I find too short a time, and the small room was so crowded you couldn't move.
And I would love to meet up and exchange news and views and ideas and philosophies.....well maybe just chat!

P.S. I had never heard of Clarice House, so I looked it up and I think we have a misunderstanding here. I live in Bury, near Ramsey, near Huntingdon. Happens all the time! I suppose I could say I live in Bury NOT St Edmunds!

DJ...I too found the little sketch intriguing.

Sharon, sorry! Ramsey is even closer to me so no problems there.
I too moved here from Hertfordshire...Cheshunt...Small world huh!

Missed your Tues/Wed and this Thurs post. It was two hectic days and I even came back via Fakenham to stop off at Morrisions to pick up a new tree and lights we seem to have mislaid since moving. Got news for you re booking the Wayland Centre for a private exhibition together next year. Lovely venue. When I get details I'll let you know.

Meanwhile love the way the doggy commission is already progressing and great news on the gorgeous gowled doggy card bulk orders.

So glad you have found a fellow artist near Ramsey to meet up with and attend monthly life drawing sessions. Hi Sharon, good to meet you - from a long standing pal of Anita's near Norwich.

Hi Anita, I was in Hoddesdon, bet we bumped into each other in the Brookfield Centre! It's spooky, hubby Roy keeps meeting people that used to live in Hoddesdon or Ware or Enfield ( where I lived before Hoddesdon).
I would LOVE for us to get togethr!
