Close To Home - Benwick

'The Squirrels', 24 Doddington Road, Benwick.

I had a wonderful time sketching this home in Benwick. Mr Benfield, the owner, crossed the road to introduce himself to me and we chatted in the rare sunshine for some time. Even from the roadside, it's obvious that this house is loved and cared for.

It's so neat! Cute name too, goes well with the house!

Sure beats the cookie-cutter houses you see so many of these days. Charm, class, style... yearning for days when people took pride in building individual houses.

Thanks Kazum, it is a cute name isn't it.

Thanks Margaret!

I couldn't agree more Mark. It is starting to happen more and more around my area and the houses seem to be HUGE. I like a little history to go with my houses, the new builds are beautiful but they lack something for me, emotion, history, tales held deep within the stone...oh, and those decorative features we just don't have time for these days, trades lost and forgotten...such a shame.
