Thanks Spinneretta. I too admired the DS colours for almost 2 years before I recently went a little barmy and ordered 29 tubes!!! The shipping and tax was very costly so I made sure I got plenty with the hope of not having to do it again for some time!
Thanks Nina. After watching a documentary on Rothko I undertsand his works a little more now. I'm finding that I can appreciate art far more when I have some understanding of the artist's life and thoughts. I don't always LIKE the works of an artist but I do appreciate them more with a little personal knowledge. That said, I love red so this was always going to be a fave of Rothko's, so full of energy and yet so still...Mmmm.
Anita, this one is so good. I love what you are doing with your theme! You will have a wonderful journal when you are done. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the month unfold.

OOOh lovely shade of red! I have to admit I admire the Daniel Smith watercolours ;)
And I love the Rothko Square :)
Great reds, I love it. I like Mark Rothko a lot, his paintings have a lot of secrets in them and yet they are SO simple...
Love the colors of this one...
