Imagination sketches - Canson watercolour sketchbook - Inktense/watercolour/inkI've found it difficult to sketch the past few days, choosing a subject has been most difficult and much time has been wasted simply holding my sketchbook open, pen poised waiting for inspiration to visit. I have never been much of a routine person so keeping up with my daily sketchbook entries this year has made me very proud of myself, this past few days I felt the drive slipping and became worried that it would fall away, never to return.
So, I made a playground out of a couple of pages. I told myself...
'so what if it's a new journal'
'it doesn't have to be perfect, infact it doesn't even have to be good'
'play around, enjoy yourself'
'just do SOMETHING!!!'
...and I did.

I'm so glad you did! Was it a brand new sketchbook? I'm always scared stiff of the first page, it's almost as though I've never drawn before. These drawings are so creative, it shows what can be achieved by ignoring fear and just doing it! Thanks for the inspiration Anita.
Great drawings and I know what you mean!! I've been trying to start my new sketchbook for over a week and a half now. I hate that first page fright. I think I'll try and buck up the courage this weekend! Thanks for sharing!
Anita, I have had a moleskin wc book since some time in the Spring. I still haven't made a mark on any page. Why are new sketchbooks so intimidating??? I thought it was just me!
I am in the same boat.
I like your fantasy sketches Anita. Yes, you have really been so prolific and creative and have produced amazing work. I think a little slowing down is in order...maybe to give those creative juices some room for replenishing. I have no doubt they will flow again profusely!
