25 mins - watercolourLast week was supposed to be our last 'life' session but I received a text stating that the organiser had indeed found a model for today's class. I was excited by the prospect of working with a different model and looking forward to the session.
However, over the weekend I began to feel unwell and by yesterday I had a full blown virus with all the symptoms of flu. Aches, pains, tiredness, stuffiness, sneezing, runny nose, headaches...you name it!
Life class starts at 12.30pm and by 12.15pm I had rushed through a quick bath, downed several pain killers and sat behind of the wheel of my truck headed towards Whittlesey, a last minute decision to give it a try. I have loved these life sessions, worked so hard to find life models and the thought of missing one, the last one, was too much. I had to at least try, if only to obtain the model's contact number for future studio sessions of my own.
So...I went!
25 mins - Inktense (ink black)I arrived late but just in time for the longer poses of the session. The model, a dancer, had to leave at 2pm so my work from the day is limited.
The pain killers helped me through.
20 mins - Inktense (Indigo)
After the model left at 2pm the organiser offered to sit for the last pose. Moving directly from nude to clothed brought it's own surprising challenges.
I had my own personal plan for these six sessions that basically involved building confidence in line with an aim to work more tonally by session 6, concentrating on values over line.
I'm content that I managed to complete the plan as I intended and pleased that I was able to get the loose watercolour pose in today, a concentration on form, tone and colour.
Classes start again in October, which seems a lifetime away...I can't wait!

You are doing great in your class! These are all very well done and I only aspire to someday render figures as lovely as these. Hope you are enjoying the work too!
You poor thing - and yet you still managed to turn out some very fine work. I absolutely understand your motivation - I would do the same thing, but now you can rest and take care of yourself. I hope you feel better soon.
So sorry for the virus attack...rest and fluids will make it pass quicker.
You did so great in your life drawing class and especially the last class...it takes so much concentration and focus and considering how bad you felt, you did extraordinary sketches! I love the first figure, with the drape over her legs. It is so sensitive and dreamy...beautiful!!
Get well soon.
Ronell
Your watercolour is lovely, Anita. I love the slide show, a great reminder of the amount of beautiful work you achieved in the classes. Some I'd missed first time around. Get well soon - I hate a summer virus.
I really enjoy the top watercolor (female seated from behind) - It's the kind that tricks you into thinking it's simple, but is not. What makes it great is what you've chosen to show and omit.
So sorry that you still feel so bad, but lucky for all of us that you went! These drawings are wonderful -- and the top one of the seated figure in watercolor from the back ... oh my ... just perfection! It really took my breath with it's simplicity (although as melissa said, it's NOT simple at all!) and balance.
Love the slide show. How can you be so brilliant artwise and yet so capable with IT matters.? Must be two of you in there! Glad you will have new life class starting in October.... but of course I'll be too far away by then - I HOPE!!!!
Joannie
Thankyou Marta. I LOVE life class and hope to plan some private sessions soon!
Thanx Casey, feeling much better today!
Thankyou Ronell. Rest?...Now that's the toughie for me, my brain can't sit still for a minute!
LOL!
Feeling better today...Thankyou!
Thanx Robyn! I didn't enter all of my work from the 6 sessions on the slide show for fear of the images ending up tiny but it is nice to see a mixture from over the 6 weeks. It's given me lots of inspiration.
Thankyou Melissa!
I have loosened up heaps with my watercolours this year, so pleased my new found confidence in this media is showing.
Thankyou so much Linda! :)
LOL!
Oh Joannie, I shall miss you at life class, I shall miss you FULL STOP!
Awesome, Anita. As always.
Thankyou so much Sherie!
There is something I love about the unfinished watercolor. I don't know why I love it so very much but I do. Your work is wonderful. Thank you for linking to your site from EDM yahoogroup.
