HomeBound - Bathroom

It's been pretty miserable weather here for the last few days, I think the rain just holds out for the school holidays! Hence, myself and the boys have been a little homebound.

On Monday, after running a nice hot bath, I decided to be daring and take my small moleskin sketchbook into the bathroom for a change of scenery and do some sketching. From my relaxing, rose scented, bath I sketched the taps. Holding the book out of the water and sketching directly in pigment liner gave me good practice for those moments on location when there is no where to rest my sketchbook. My arms ached rapidly and as a result the shower head is a little out of proportion, should be larger, but I am quite happy with the taps themselves.

My radiator sketch is much more colourful than my actual bathroom, my walls are pale lavender and my skirting is white but I thought my sketch would be a good place to play with colour and got a little carried away!

What a neat idea! Who would have thought to sketch in the bath!!! Woo Hoo!! What a hoot! You did a fabulous job, too. I love your taps and shower handset.

I can't believe you did these so beautifully and managed to keep your book dry at the same time. That's amazing! I love the one of the radiator - the colors are lovely and you did such a wonderful job with the drapes in the fabric. Hope you guys get some sunny skies soon.

Now that is real dedication to art. Just one problem; I only take showers. I know you can get waterproof paper...Hmmm, I wonder... :D

There has to be an Intrepid Sketching Award we can nominate you for, Anita. I have no idea how you managed this wonderful sketch of your taps from such a position. Makes my passion for reading art books in the bath look positively mundane.

You certainly are game, Anita. Both sketches are lovely!

These are both really enjoyable to see...they somehow capture the luxurious relaxation of a good bath in a lovely setting. You have a very nice blog.

LOL...Your nomination is quite enough for me Robyn! :)
Actually, it's the longest bath I've taken in ages, usually I can't wait to get out because I'm thinking of a thousand things I could be better spending my time doing!
