EDM Challenges 113 and 6

It has been a rather busy couple of days for me.

On Monday I met up with Diane at Mepal Outdoor centre so the children could play together on their last day of the Easter school holiday.
Diane and I spent much of this time going over paperwork and preparing my speech for the FenVAC AGM that evening.
We managed to find some time for a sketch each while we were there before heading home for dinner prior to our meeting. Diane used oil pastels and created a beautiful scene of a single boat on the lake while I played with my coloured pencils. I found it difficult to find the colours I wanted and then realised I was using my Derwent drawing pencils, which explained the limited choice.
In the Fens, field are divided by dikes rather than fences so when I spotted the stick fence, with its' wound wire, I searched through my little book of challenges to find the page entitled 'Fence'.

Today was the first day back at school and a prompt to give my home a good clean and tidy. It wasn't until this evening that I found time to flip through the pages of my book, waiting for a subject to catch my eye. I stopped at the 6th EDM challenge 'Draw your favourite well-loved object or childhood toy'. Sadly I no longer have any of my own childhood toys but I was reminded of 'Edwin' the elf, a gift from my Mum for my eldest when he was born. Edwin used to hold a star between his hands that played the lullaby 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and the original batteries still worked until the star went missing a couple of years ago, an amazing 14 years!
Edwin was passed onto Harry when Jake decided he had become too old to be seen with him.
Both boys have loved this little fellow equally and he still lives at the end of Harry's bed to this day, so Edwin the Elf seemed like the perfect choice for EDM challenge #6. This time I dug my Derwent Signature coloured pencil set out of the studio sideboard.
