My Little Book of Challenges
When the sun greets you and dances upon your face as it did mine this morning you have two choices - sunbathe or sketch? So...I did both! You may have seen me mention the yahoo group called 'EverDayMatters'. I joined them recently and have managed to create a few sketches to meet their weekly challenges where a new subject is set each week for members to sketch/journal about. Their list has been running far longer than my membership with them and has now reached week 114. The few sketches I have managed to complete for this list have been mixed among my journal pages in my small moleskin and today I decided to organise...Oh yes, I am way too good at that! I like things in order it rewards me with a sense of control and eases my mind and I love a challenge, so it was only a matter of time before I decided to start at number one on the huge list and begin a separate book just for this purpose. It's how I am, I have given up the fight! I came across an A6 Winsor & Newton case bound sketchbook in my studio that came with a Cotman travel set purchased back in 2003 when I began this wonderful artistic journey that now fills my life. It isn't the W&N heavyweight paper I love so much but it handled watercolour and coloured pencil well today. I have marked each page in order (of course) with items from the list and my intention is to fill them randomly as the occasion allows. It will provide me with good illustrative practice and offer subjects for me to sketch at times when subjects elude me. Today was a fantastic day to start such a project, the hot sun spotlighting the patio gave me the perfect spot to set out my kit, stopping to soak in the rays and watch my Son bouncing on his trampoline between sketches.

Way to jump right in and start at the beginning. It was at 103 when I joined and I have be jumping around, maybe I should take your lead. Great drawings and I really like the way you titled each one. Great job! http://silverwomanstudio.blogspot.com
I too like the way you are labeling your items. After I read about you joining, I also joined but haven't participated yet. I finish up my seasonal work next Tuesday and then will have much more "me" time. I may take your lead also and get a book and start at the beginning. But my handwriting isn't as nice as yours. I need you to label them for me.
Fantastic!!! I just love your work and your style! I've been meaning to do all the challenges too in a sseparate sketchbook but I dream of being oganised ...never get round to being organised! Keep up the fabulous art work. mD
My favourite is the mug, but they're all great. My approach is somewhat haphazard ... with some challenges I'll try several times, other times a single object ends up doing triple duty! ... I wrestled with the idea of keeping a separate "challenges" sketchbook but ultimately decided not to ... It was a ridiculously tough decision, though!!
These are great, and I also love the way you labeled them. The angles that you chose for the items, especially the lamp, are just great, too! You'll have them all done in no time if you keep up at this pace!

These are all really nice drawings! Beautiful colors, perspective, shading. I like them all!
I love this entry, Anita, from the labelling to the colors and shading, compositions, linework....it is all so well done!

The dedicated EDM book is a great idea, Anita. You are off to a beautiful start. I love SHOE in particular.

Thankyou for your lovely comments Marie.
Thanx Robyn!
Thanx E-J. The cup is the only one of the four I used coloured pencil for.
LOL @ 'ridiculously tough decision'...I so understand that comment!

Anita...
Wow! You just started and you already have way more challenges completed than me. I started over 8 months ago...
So welcome to the group, even if I have no authority to say so ;-).
You have such beautiful work. Such great use of color, shading, text. They are so professional! I can't wait to see more.
Thankyou so much for the 'official' welcome Laura and your kind compliments!
