Class Demo Revisited

This is the class demo I did yesterday, using the 15 min watercolour base from last weeks class.
The task was to create atmosphere and depth.
I found it difficult to photograph (there is a hot, vibrant pink in there that the camera just will not pick up)

I spent approx. 1 hour on this piece, working on many techniques and applications. My student loved the session and we both ended up smothered in pastel, along with most of the door handles in my home!

The house was added at the end to show the versitality of using mixed media (light over dark) a valuable lesson, although I think preferred the scene without it.

Wow! This is amazing! At first glance I thought it was an oil painting! I would never have thought of painting with watercolout and then adding pastels to finish - Now I have seen this I will definitely have a go! I imagine it could be a great way to save a watercolour that might otherwise have been thrown in the bin too :0)

I can't really choose which one I loke better Anita, they both have such a different energy, completely different moods indeed. I bet it was fun playing with the pastels over the previous one though :D

As you know from flikr comment, I love this completed demo. Great combination of materials. How well/long do you think the pastel will stay on the watercolour paper. ?

Thank you Sandra

Teresa I am fond of both versions too! Thank you!

Thanks Serena

Joan...The watercolour softens the paper which then has a nice tooth, it's fixed! So long as no one drives over it in a hummer, I'm sure it'll be fine! ;)
