New Sketching Project

The Sketchbook Project: 2011

I've done it!...I have just joined the sketchbook project run by the Art House Co-Op.
I am terrible at making decisions so choosing a theme and a Moleskine Cahier cover colour were an absolute nightmare for me, it took me 3 coffee's and almost an hour to make my choices and finally checkout!
But I did it!
I'm in!
I went for a red cover...love red! I selected the theme 'Your Name' and will be adding a little to that, so my theme will be:

ANITA DAVIES: A SHOE LOVING, CAFFEINE ADDICTED SKETCH-A-HOLIC

A nice list of a few of my vices, giving me a wide span for subject matter.

Now I have to wait for my sketchbook to arrive...Impatience is another of my vices!

Great choice of theme Anita! I look forward to seeing your drawings and work in progress. It sounds as though you have definite plans on how you are going to approach this! and you get to draw some of your favourite things in life.

Last year I was given the theme of An Elephant in the Room and drew elephants http://www.flickr.com/photos/31752495@N03/sets/72157622576081311/.
This year I have chosen "The View From Up Here" . My Sketchbook arrived a few weeks ago and I am in the planning phase.....

Oh, good. I signed up, too, Anita. My theme is "About Face." It's fun! Can't wait to see your drawings.

Oh Anita...how wonderful.
I went and looked at this project and it was very enticing but i knew in my heart of hearts that I just don't have the time commitment for it right now. So I am going to watch, pay attention and see what you all do. It is my understanding that when done, it goes on tour. Is that right. But you'll never see that journal again, right? It would be hard to pour all the work into something I'll never see again!!! But you can photo and scan in all the pages so you you have a record of it, of course. The topics are SO enticing!

Alissa your Elephant book is just wonderful, thanks for linking me up. Looking fwd to seeing your pages this year!

Karen I don't remember seeing that theme in the list but then, there are so many to choose from. Can't wait to see your drawing either!

Ginny what a shame you don't have the time to commit. Yes, the books go on tour and then they are held as part of the permanent collection in the Brooklyn Art Library...forever! How cool is that! Yes, I'll be scanning and posting my entries here. I got so confused with all the theme choices I went for my own name! LOL!

I'm like Ginny. I've just looked at the page, read the rules etc. but I'm not sure I could send my work out into the world, never to be seen again. That said I've got scattered drawings I don't even have photos of so maybe...

But Sue, it would be seen...for generations to come by thousands. Better that than stuck in an old staorage box at home eh?
I'll be making sure I scan large images so I can maybe pop them into a book copy of my own over at Blurb ;)
