IFJM - April 24th

I met fellow sketcher Michael Bailey at Houghton Mill, he recognised me from both my blog picture and my Lamy Safari fountain pen, LOL! He introduced himself and we spent a while chatting about our art beside the river and, of course, shared a coffee together before leaving.
Michael doesn't have a blog....yet....so I can't show the wonderful work he was doing with a brush pen. (hint hint)

Great meeting you Michael.

It was lovely meeting you too Anita. The Hemingfords are very picturesque villages too. I was back in Houghton yesterday and managed a quick sketch and a couple of coffees too! As for the blog ... I'm working on it, honest. Just spent more of my hard-earned money on art materials - including a Lamy I picked up in Peterborough today ;)

Oooooh a Lamy, what colour did you go for?
I went back too, passed over my original sketch of the mill for a wider angle, including the little house. (Post soon)
Bit wet here yesterday so I didn't chance it!
I visited the gardens at Hemingford Grey Manor that day we met at Houghton, nice village!

I got a Lamy AL-star - same body and nib as a Safari but metal and in a suitably manly silver of course! I need to get a converter from the place you mentioned and some ink. I'm out of the black stage and into sepia for landscapes and sanguine for figures.
The weather held out at the mill yesterday but I was feeling lazy and only did the one sketch but I did colour it there and then with a lovely little pocket set of Daler Rowney watercolours and a waterbrush. I'll post soon too when I can get my hands on the scanner!
Maybe I need to treat myself to one of my own ;)

I miss my scanner too, my netbook has no disc drive and my grown up pc is currently being repaired. I've been uploading photos instead but it's not easy taking a good pic of a sketchbook spread :(
Tindalls in Ely stock some Lamy products, I once purchased a nib there and my nice new pink Safari.

I've tried to use my camera too but the lighting in the kitchen is making my colours look all washed out and I need to use the tripod to get a decent in focus image too. Will try to swipe the scanner later I think ;)
