APRIL: International Fake Journal Month

I sketched Alphonse, my new studio bear, the other night for the first time before popping on the internet and came across Roz Stendahls' blog for Fake Journal month. I remember a few artists taking part last year and thought it looked fun and, with the sketch of Alphonse beside me drying, a little spark ignited in my head...Why not make a fake journal for Alphonse?
I then popped into Flickr and noticed that Liz Steel is doing just that for her bear Borromini HERE.
I try to journal every school holiday for my youngest Son, Harry, in a separate book to make it easier to gift him when he is older and still have pages left in last Summers' book to complete over Easter. Needless to say, this left me all confused...making decisions has never been my strength.
Then it occured to me that journalling Harrys' Easter break through the eyes of Alphonse would be such fun...perfect infact...So that is what I intend to do.

I have no plans, just a stuffed toy, an A6 sketchbook and one month to turn it all into an exciting adventure with a loveable character. I have three exhibitions to prepare for and a 12 year old at home from school for two weeks, so the sketches will be quick, the text spontaneous and the whole project will unravel as much before my eyes as it does yours...FUN!

Here is Alphonse in the 'flesh' or fur!

I am really looking forward to your Fake Journal. I am still debating, but so far I have no inspiration for the caracter...
Have a creative rest of the day.

I love Alphonse in his striped outfit ready with his palette. What a cute idea to do a journal through his eyes.
