Benwick Barn Sketches

I sketched these little thumbnails while waiting outside the school for Harry last week.
The barns were to my left, a view between two houses, and the landscape directly infront of me. I mixed the two scenes together with some Neocolor and then played around with the barn composition in ink.
I then took the sketches home and created a painting from them back in the studio
...How cool is that!
My own composition, my own references, bold colour and big brushes! I had so much fun, it felt so good to be 'creating' as opposed to copying, dusting off the cobwebs of my imagination.

I will post the painting later today.

These are lovely - there's something very 'zen' that comes out of them. Is that the way you were feeling when you did them?

I really enjoy your use of color Anita. It gives each piece a wonderful personality.

These are wonderful! I agree with the 'zen' comment - these do have a meditative quality that is really nice.

Are you tired of me saying: nice, lovely, beautiful and I love this? I hope not, because it seems you'll be getting much more!

Anita - I'm enjoying your landscapes and it's great that you're turning your small sketches into larger works too. I enjoyed seeing the work below from your class. They are doing super work!

Thank you all!

Yes, I was feeling quite relaxed and confident when I made these sketches, art has that effect on me...I drift off into a place of calm and solitude, it's one of the things I love most about art. I am quite an intuitive person so it feels right working as I am on this Mixed Views project.

Gypsy...Who would tire of such wonderful comments?...Thank you!

Thanks Joan, I have a very brave class and I love working with them. They are soon to join me on some plein air and landscape works themselves through the Summer.
