Castle Rising

On a recent trip to Hunstanton beach, Harry and I stopped off to visit Castle Rising for the first time.
The stone Castle was built around 1140ad and is most famous for belonging to the mother of Edward III, Queen Isabella, following her part in the murder of her husband Edward II.
We stopped off for homemade cake and a cuppa in the Castle village cafe before heading off for the beach.

Great sketches: I love old stones and castles, especially medieval ones!

What an interesting place, love the birds eye view photos on their site... makes you wonder about the times they lived in.. that they needed to build such a barrier around their house... anyway your drawings of it are very cool... nice educational side trip for Harry too.

You seem to live in such a magical and quaint location...what fun to be able to take such a trip right there in your own "backyard"! :)
