Grace

'Grace' ©Anita Davies 2007

This is an acrylic portrait of 'Grace', my Dad's dog, I painted for him this past Christmas. I've just grabbed it back so I can sign and varnish it as I ran out of time last December.
We live next door to one another and it was tough trying to photograph Grace, paint her and keep it a secret from him. At one point he entered my studio and I had just enough time to throw a rag over it, he sat right next to it while we chatted and looked through every painting he could reach...except this one!
PHEW!

He loved his Christmas surprise.

Grace looks like she could step off the page and run across a field after a bird. Very expressive stance and the eyes. No wonder your Dad likes it.
