Close To Home - Doddington

35 High Street, Doddington. © Anita Davies

This is the second of my plein air house sketches for the 'Close to Home' project, sketched from the truck. The two little blossom trees and fence caught my eye with this one.

So far I am on target for my average of 3 houses a week starting at the beginning of May. It's nice having three villages to choose from, I can skip around between them and take my pick or drive to the one nearest to my chores for the day.
Already I sense some interest with passers-by. Last week was the first time I could set my chair up, due to the weather changing for the better, and get out from behind the steering wheel of the truck. I found it alot easier to sketch without all of my driving apparatus infront of me and it offers me more control over my angle and composition choices.

Your paintings are beautiful and full of warmth.
Beginnings are always difficult, just keep going and don't count:)
Good luck!

Thanks Anetka.
Actually, I'm enjoying the whole project.
I've painted five so far and each one has been very different with it's own character.

I love them :) But then, I love the character you find in older homes... (BTW the older homes over here are usually 50 years and on up ;))

Lurker Comment: Your painting is so beautiful that I just couldn't resist commenting. I can see the love and appreciation you have the house in your work. I can't wait to see more.
