Harry
This weekend I drew inspiration from many different references to create some quick, lead-free figure studies.
The first, 'Harry' consists of two different poses sketched a couple of hours apart, each pose permitting a few minutes before he moved on.
Skull (c/o Lionel Walden School) & Head studies (from Imagination)
The skull is just a section of the miniature skeleton Lionel Walden School kindly allowed me to bring home for the weekend, his name is Charley. I had hoped to study him more this weekend. The head studies were created from imagination, during several different periods on Saturday afternoon.
Studies of a cherub statue
The cherub studies were created using an ornamental statue as reference while watching TV Saturday evening.
Sketch created from 'The Staalmeesters' by Rembrandt
The inspiration for the group above came from a Rembrandt painting. Each study took just a minute or two to create, building on the group each time.
I like the way that each sketch also builds it's own story as it progresses, simply changing the viewpoint, moving an ornament, changing the order of figures in an existing work or catching family members throughout the day can give great insight and inspiration.

Nice to see you doing these Anita.
I like building up drawings in this way but tend to do it live while sketching people who are moving about. I just fit in the next one who stands still for 30 seconds whereever he or she seems to fit!
I like the way you've done these - you are always an inspiration!
These are wonderful Anita! I wish I could 'borrow' a skull for practice! I have been enjoying your self portraits as well. Such inspiration when I stop in! Thanks for coming by my way as well!
Simply beautiful, really nice work. And why didn´t I think of borrowing a skull for drawing practice? I think I´ll have to visit the biology section of the school where I work... Thanks for the idea!
Thankyou Katherine. The sketches of Harry were completed that way but it's not always possible to be somewhere with a crowd.
Thankyou Casey!
Thankyou Marta.
Safe journey on your trip!
Thankyou Nina.
Yes go steal the skeleton from the biology dept.....just don't tell them it was my idea when you are caught!
LOL!
I enjoyed the Staalmeesters sketch, which I found from a search. Fun to look at for someone who knows the original painting. Thanks!
Thankyou for visiting William, so glad you enjoyed your time here.
