Self portrait - WatercolourI painted my eyes in on my self portrait watercolour I posted as WIP
here.
I promise you that I don't always look this miserable, obviously when I concentrate I look rather stern and I've probably enhanced that trait here.
I will leave the portrait as it stands, it has served it's purpose and I am happy to have conquered some goals with it. It is my best likeness to date, working from life, in that all of the features are in the right proportions and places.
It has been an amazing journey both artistically and psychologically, hopefully I'll be able to be a little kinder to myself as I proceed.

FABULOUS work Anita -- such subtle shadings!!! BRAVA!
It's quite amazing to me the emotion we wrap up in a self-portrait. By far, I think we are our own most difficult subject...and later, critic.
This post would lend itself well to this week's Illustration Friday topic: the blues.
Beautiful work, Anita! The shading is exquisite, very subtle.
About that stern look, I recognize it from my own self portraits... it´s just a sign that you were totally concentrated at what you were doing. Who has time to compose one´s features at times like that? :)
This looks great with your eyes painted, I like the depth it gives. And think about your stern look as "attitude"...we need that from time to time!

Fantastic! A wonderful work of art.
A beautiful portrait. Great job on the watercolors.
excellent.
Thankyou Lin!
How true Suzanne.
Exactly Nina! However, I do find it scary to think I look this miserable when I concentrate, especially considering the amount of sketching I have carried out in public this year! LOL!
Ah, attitude!....Yes, I like that Ronell! ;)
Thankyou Dave.
Thankyou Laurel!
Thankyou Andrea!
