EDM challenge no. 97 was to sketch a present you have received and explain why it is special and I couldn't have chosen a better time to tackle this challenge.
Over the weekend my Mum appeared at my studio door with a handful of beautiful flowers from her garden, her very first crop of sweet peas this year mixed with a few lavender sprigs and she had picked them just for me.
Such a delicate little bunch of colour required an equally beautiful water container and I immediately reached for the tiny, blue, frosted vase my friend Joannie gifted me last year. The two look fantastic together and sit on the small table in my studio tempting me to capture them on paper...Tonight I gave into temptation and made a quick sketch using pen and inktense pencils.
Below is the dry version, before adding water.

What a lovely summer gift! You really captured the delicate blooms very well. I particularly like the dry version because it shows the delicacy better. The finished version is lovely, too. I'd say you have a great drawing... and a really nice present.
Absolutely gorgeous! I might have to try those Inktense pencils!
Gorgeous flowers!
Beautifully done. Very delicate. Do you prefer using pen to the inktense outliner?
These are absolutely lovely, Anita - those pencils are amazing, aren't they! I thought it was watercolour before I read your text. I am longing for some sweet peas myself. I'll have to be content with lavender.
Soooo beautiful.
so pretty! Sweet Peas are long gone here as the weather in now too hot. Yours are lovely and I could even smell them!
A beautiful combination, Anita! I love both versions.....the water really brings out the colours.
Thankyou Bonny. I kindda like both versions equally too!
Thankyou Windsong. Give them a try, I am very happy with my purchase.
Thanx Shelly!
Thanx Dave!
Inktense outliner?...Not heard of this little gadget...Tell me more!
Thankyou Robyn. The inktense are remarkable, they just come alive with water and are so vivid.
Thankyou Judy!
Thankyou Marta...Any chance you send some of that sunshine this way?
