I had heard rumour that someone was trying to set something in motion locally that would take place both during the day and just up the road from me, yesterday my friend Joan confirmed this rumour and we are both planning to attend on Tuesday.
Oh joy of joys!
The sessions are two hours long and will last for six weeks, although I hope that should they prove popular they may become a fixed event. I can't wait!
So, last night, using one of my art books in the studio as a reference, I created a couple of quick 15 minute sketches in my A5 Winsor and Newton sketchbook just to get some practice with the female form.
Lots of errors, which is inevitable with my limited experience, but there are areas I felt offered a lot of hope and my confidence has definitely improved, I went straight in with ink which I never thought I'd be brave enough to attempt!

These are both exceptional - beautiful crosshatching technique. You'll adore the life class.
You're going to have a great time! If these are anything to go by, I can't wait to see the work you produce.
Thankyou Casey, I am so looking forward to it!
Thanks for your vote of confidence Dave! :)
Oh wow, these are fantastic! I particularly like the second one. Beautiful!
Thankyou Laser!
It's very brave to work pencil-free. It take the bravery to whole new level to do so with the human figure. You're doing a great job with it.
Thankyou so much Kate!
Both are excellent, Anita! I think I like the second one best....looking forward to seeing your class sketches.
Thanx Serena, just scanning my life sketches now! ;)
So glad you've found a model close to home. Nothing better than working from a live model. I am in the same boat as you were. Hope you have fun. These are great sketches. Your cross-hatching is just lovely.
Thanx Phthaloblu. I hope you strike lucky with a model soon!
