EDM Challenges 31 and 88

Studio 15 April '07

Today was a fantastic day here in the Fens, the hottest I can remember for a long time.

To celebrate, I moved some furniture around in the studio so I could access the French doors and I swung them open wide onto my new little patio where I sat in my white rattan chair, facing the old open barn to sketch the washing line for the EDM challenge #88 'Something Breezy'.

Watercolour and pigment liner

I recently came across a box of collectable hats and shoe trinket boxes I had forgotten about, so I decided to decorate my studio with them and chose 'Violet' as my subject for the EDM challenge 'Something you collect'

Coloured pencil, pigment liner and watercolour

The rest of the day was spent enjoying the sunshine, clipping few shrubs in the garden and preparing a traditional roast ~ Far too hot for a roast really but according to my family 'it's not Sunday without a roast'.

My eldest Son bowled his first hat trick in a cricket match today and told us all about it as we sat outside and saw in the night together.
A wonderful day!

Boy, that did sound like a lovely day. I really like the summer breeze and the clothes line. You have a real freshness to your work.

They are both charming, Anita. I love the hat! I also love the unique style you are developing for the Challenge sketches.

I'm ashamed to be so behind with my EDM Challenges - and I neither have to cook nor ferry children to cricket!

What a lovely studio you have. I'm very jealous! I like the way you say that your son has bowled his first hattrick...many of us haven't even managed one in our whole lives!!

Wonderful work, Anita. I do love your style. It was beautiful here in France as well, but I didn't draw a thing yesterday.

Well Done Jake. .. so early in the season too. Time for plenty more??

I can imagine you Anita outside your lovely studio enjoying the sun. See you tomorrow at Mepal. Hope they let us all in - as we seem to have told quite a lot of artists to join us??!!
