EDM Challenges 10 and 76

Another two entries in my 'Little book of challenges' or should I say books, as I have had to go onto book no.2 for some of the subjects...There are so many! Both books are Winsor & Newton but only the second one is my favourite heavyweight paper, although the paper in the first is holding everything I throw at it.

Challenge no.10 was to sketch a hands/hands. I started this sketch at Mepal on Wednesday while waiting for my friend Joannie to arrive, I had only just started when she appeared so I left it to sketch the outdoor centre. I found it again this evening and decided to continue with it in quick watercolour washes...Very quick, I had approx. five minutes before I had to collect my Son!
I added the lettering on my return but decided to leave the loose washes as they were.

Challenge no.76 was to sketch a flower/flowers, just the excuse I needed to make the most of the roses I purchased earlier this week.

Two such very different styles; you are very versatile! I can't believe you did that hand in five minutes! :o) I don't think I could have done that in five hours!

Thanks for posting my link to EDM - can't believe I forgot it. Love both pictures here. The hands havn't suffered form all those interruptions one bit. Diane.

These are both beautiful sketches, done in two different styles. Very beuatiful work. The washes on the hand are so perfect. Nicely done.

You really know your way around a rose, Anita. You can see you have made a study of them. Lovely. Great quick watercolour sketch too.

Thankyou Robyn. I have painted many roses using a basic outline sketch to begin with and remember feeling quite suprised at how much I had learned in this process when I began my sketchbooks and had to approach the drawing of them in a more detailed way.
