Strawberry Bustle

Today was hectic, full of shopping queues, bustling trolleys, passport paperwork for our upcoming trip to Paris Disney, washing machine repairmen and a migraine that struck me halfway through all of it!

Now this could have been one of those days to excuse my sketchbooks with the statement "I was just too busy" but, for me, the sketching is the fun part and an essential end to such a day, so....I MADE time!

A quick sketch in my small moleskin sketchbook, that seems to have become my daily journal due to it's compact size, of some rather long strawberries I purchased from the supermarket.
The green ink is one of my new sakura micron pens. There are 6 colours in the pack and this is the first time I am using one of them. I loved writing with it and can't wait to test out the other 5 colours!

My youngest Son, Harry, will be 9 tomorrow...NINE! I can hardly believe it! He went to bed, smiling as he passed his presents, colourfully wrapped, huddled at the fireplace - So excited!

I also managed a quick postcard, in pen and wash, for my new friend Emma-Jane Rosenberg, a promise I made during the 13th Worldwide Sketchcrawl .

Happy Birthday to Harry! Are you going to have a house full of 9 year old boys today? If so, good luck!! You'll have a great time at Disney; I took my daughter when she was 9 and we had a wonderful time. Nice sketch...and you have such neat handwriting too!

Lovely strawbs. And a very happy birthday to Harry! I remember my 9th birthday very clearly - it was an eventful one and a lot of fun.

PS. My Hahnemuhle booklets arrived today. :-)

Dave, no party this year...Harry planned his whole day and his wish was to go to Toys R Us and fill a trolley with his birthday money, so that's what we did!
I am sooo looking forward to Disney, I just know Harry will love it!
Thankyou for the comments on my sketch and handwriting!

E-J I hope to post your card tomorrow when I go into town, I would love one in return (hint-hint)
Enjoy the Hahnemuhle booklets, can't wait until your scanner is fixed so we can see all your beautiful sketches.

Those pens are nice! I might have to try them myself. I love the colors and the shading on the strawberries.

Beautiful sketch! And 9 is a huge deal birthday. My oldest just turned 17 in January. Yikes! My youngest will be 15 in June and then both of them will driving. I can feel my hair changing color!

Thanx Sherie!
I feel for you!...I have a 16 year old too and his college applications have been enough to give me pulpatations, let alone driving!
