Poinsettia
After completing my walk-in-wardrobe we got a little carried away and painted the whole house! Decided on a colour for the dining room this time, rather than cream, and am very pleased with the result.
My annual poinsettia purchase in my Mums plant pot, must be a lucky pot because I usually manage to kill it off before Christmas day, this one is still hanging in there!
Mince Pies
I am so behind with my scanning that all my posts are of a few weeks ago even though my journal has current entries, usually I don't see this as a problem BUT it means I have almost gone through the Christmas season without a single festive upload and it occured to me that they would probably start appearing on my blog around February!!!
That's no good!
So...I have skipped through my journal to some more current entries and shall bombard you with festivities today before the new year kicks in. (brace yourself!)
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Winter Inspiration
More sketches using magazines as references. Trying hard to find resources to ignite the inspiration now that Winter has set in here in the Fens...I miss getting out and about with my sketchbook and find myself wondering WHAT to sketch on a regular basis now. I find magazines and DVD's are a great help and, of course, there is always room for a self portrait series seeing as I am wherever I may be!

Gouache
No pencil, no ink...just gouache straight from the brush using magazines as references. This was a fun exercise!
(Well...when I say gouache I actually mean WHITE gouache added to my normal watercolour palette making all colours opaque.)

This craft paper was a nighmare to sketch on! It had a wax surface that did not like ink or watercolour at all!

Palette Clean
A very quick scene from imagination with a half inch brush to use up the colours in my palette so I could give it a good clean.

09-11-11
Before I went on holiday I was offered an eye appointment to have a cyst removed but to be honest I was more than a little nervous and just wasn't up to it, so I postponed. Boy did I need that holiday!!!
When they called me to re-book and offered me the 9th November, the 2yr anniversary of my Mums passing, I felt it was a sign...her way of holding my hand, so I took it.
The process was soooo quick and pain free!
It also gave me something to fill my day, keep my mind busy, help distract from the pain that still consumes my heart.
I miss her!
