Guess what I purchased with some of my Birthday money?......Hmmm, rather predictable aren't I!

A wonderful afternoon visiting friends with Dad and eating delicious home baked cakes!

Had an hour free before preparing dinner so drove the car down to the village and ended up in the car park of the George Pub in Doddington where I sketched the hall opposite.
Just me, my sketchbook, paints, a cafetiere of Italian blend coffee and Ray Lamontagne playing on the CD.....Heaven!

Just a few of the wonderful gifts I was given on my Birthday. A fantastic day!!!

From The Orchard Garden we went onto the Fitzwilliam, especially to see the Italian Drawings and Etchings exhibits.

The Fitzwilliam NEVER disappoints....Fantastic way to spend my Birthday!!!

I started my birthday off with a trip to The Orchard Tea Gardens in Grantchester, Cambridge for a cream tea! I was suprised to find the scones were cold, served buffet/self serve style and the only coffee served was filter. The deck chairs in the orchard were damp sadly but I imagine it would be a wonderful place to sit and sketch in warmer weather.

Mothers Day Continued...
The 'Paragon' coffee cup and saucer I purchased from Waterside Antiques on Mother's Day with the money my youngest, Harry, gave me in advance for my birthday. It is so delicate and pretty.!

A change about in my lounge ended up with me bringing two chairs in from storage to replace one of my sofas, they work well so I plan to get them re-upholstered at some point in the future.
Those of you that read the text on my pages will see that I also cancelled my Italian Tour on the 1st April. No, sadly it is not an April Fools joke...I wish for many reasons it was.
My Dad was recently diagnosed with Sarcomatoid Mesothelioma and there is just no way I can see myself enjoying a trip that takes me miles from him at this time. I have to be here, I need to be here!
My friend, and travel partner, Joannie has been wonderful (thank you Joannie, for being you!) and knowing me as well as she does, knows I have made the right decision for me.
I was so excited about the trip, I could think of nothing else for months and, of course, I wish I hadn't had to cancel under these circumstances but I am not regretful in any way...I am simply 100% where I want to be.

Made for me by my dear friend Rose-Ann. Raspberry and cream filling....my favourite!

My bargain purchase, a newly upholstered footstool from a charity shop at just £8!

I arrived at The Bridge just after two, ordered my latte and scone and was told I would be served the scone at 2:30pm - when they came out of the oven!!!
It was delicious!!!!!!!!!!
I forgot the little camera film container I keep my water in to paint with while sketching on location and the staff were wonderful when I asked for a 'little water' for my paints, they gave me a quaint little china jug full and encouraging words every time they passed me. Deffinately a sketch friendly place to hang out!...I'll be back!
