The thoughts and works of a caffeine addicted artist!

More DVD pausing - This time from the film 'The Patriot'. I love a good historical drama, mostly because of the clothing and the hair-do's, if I'm honest! LOL!
There are 5 pauses in this spread, each of 5 minutes.

Sketched from DVD stills using Noodlers red/black ink over paper collage

More Italian architecture practice using the DVD player on pause.
The player pauses for 5 minutes before the screen goes blank and you have to re-press the pause button to see the screen again. These were created during one pause session (5 mins) with an extra pause for the colour addition on the centre sketch.
The small sketch on the right was very quick as my cream tea called to me! LOL!

All of these little figures started off plain grey until Harry worked his magic on them with some paints and a tiny brush. They cost me a couple of pounds for a huge bag and now each one looks a million dollars!
He's so clever!

Harry and I took a stroll along our favourite part of the river at Benwick and I grabbed a quick sketch while he fed the ducks.

A quick sketch of Harrys old trainers before they hit destination wheelie bin!

I decided to add a little tone to this spread for the Arthouse Sketchbook Project...Glad I did now!

This little gatehouse at the local hospital was recently demolished without any warning at all. It really angered me. I loved this place and used to admire it every time I passed on my way home. I came across my photos of it the other night, while searching for something else.

The artists Frida Kahlo, sketched from a photograph by Nickolas Muray.
The BBC were showing a film entitled 'Frida' the other night and I managed to catch it even though it was on during the early hours of the morning.

Boys!...Scare the life outta ya!
A cricket ball went straight through Jakes helmet this Saturday and embedded itself into the top of his eyebrow.
He pulled it out, wiped off the blood, taped it up and carried on with the game while I did a rather grand impersonation of a headless chicken.
Such a talented family! LOL!

Passport photo machines are now charging £5!!!
They do supply you with 5 photos rather than four now though, although why anyone would require five is beyond me.

Been uploading a few older photos of acrylic pieces to my Flickr account today; pieces I painted before I opened a Flickr account.
This is one of them.
Also managed a bit more in my Art House Project book and added a few sketches to Harrys' school holiday journal aswell as the usual laundry and roast dinner that Sunday requires.
Pretty full on day!
I plan to spend my night, feet up, watching a favourite film I haven't seen for a while with a few coffees and a biscotti...or two!.

My third spread for the Art House Sketchbook Project...more self portraits I'm afraid!
I may add colour at some point but am undecided for now, so have moved on to spread number 4.

Finally....The second spread in my Art House Sketchbook Project.
The folded tab from page one is on the left hand side where I have written 'Personality'.
Here I have described the previous text on that tab with more self portraits.
You can view the previous spread here:

I will keep the graphic quality of the floral design running throughout the sketchbook, I like the way it ties things together and the interest it adds to each spread and the composition.

Harry sketching at the table. Ink in sketchbook.
Just like his Mum, Harry is always drawing something.
Unlike his Mum he sketches mainly from imagination which I totally admire him for.

I purchased this cute little cup and saucer from the antique shop just around the corner from the cottage and just had to include it as my final sketch of the trip.

There are two sheds at the bottom of the cottage garden at Wells. I sketched the other one here: www.flickr.com/photos/anitadavies/4873060987/
This shed was once the outside toilet and it sits beneath the invading branches of next doors' apple tree.

This is the fireplace at the cottage, sketched before bed late Saturday night.

Sandra prepared some of her homemade scones, for dessert Saturday evening, and served them with her homemade strawberry and rhubarb jam and whipped cream.
They were absolutely delicious!
Luckily she prepared more than enough which meant I could eat mine WHILE I sketched a couple of the spare ones.

The carnival was on during our stay in Wells and on Saturday various stalls lined the square in the Buttlands. I popped out of the cottage, when the rain paused, to grab a very quick sketch of the pork pie stall. Since there was no where dry to sit, I leaned against the back of an ice-cream van.

Just returned back from my relaxing weekend trip to the cottage at Wells with Joannie and Sandra.
Sandra has been busy redecorating the cottage in soft blues and whites and it all feels very coastal.
I finally managed to sketch something! A few pages infact!
I thought I'd scan and upload one spread before going off to bed. This spread shows the newly decorated lounge and one of the sheds at the bottom of Sandras' beautiful garden. There is another shed, that was once an outside toilet, I sketched that too!
It is carnival week in Wells, so the place was alive with activity, the cottage walled garden was a lovely refuge.
More soon, hope you had a good weekend!

My book arrived this morning and my is the paper thin, so pleased I decided to re-load it!
I faced a couple of problems, having prepared the pages BEFORE the book arrived but nothing I couldn't overcome.
The folded pages made browsing quite difficult, so I have had to cut most of the tabs off. I've left the first tab, the two centre tabs and the one at the rear of the book that I may turn into a pocket seeing as I had to stick my back page over the pocket provided in the original book.
It works and I don't have to start all over again, which I was afraid of...that's all that matters!
Phew!
Still haven't had time to finish the pages I started working on and I won't get time now until next week because I'm off to the coast for a weekend break with art girlfriends Friday afternoon.
Hope to get lots of sketching done while I'm away and will share on my return.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Ink and Watercolour in sketchbook.
A quickie while sinking a latte at The Griffin Hotel, March, Cambridgeshire, UK back in May.
Didn't get a moment to work on my art house project until midnight last night, when I became totally engrossed for over 2 hours trying to perfect no less than 4 self portraits!!!
I'm hoping to find time to complete the pages along with the design elements later today.
